Turnaround for companies in difficulty: regain control in time

Tokio Business steps into startups and SMEs whose survival is at risk: cash that runs short, recurring losses, a client or partner that falls through. We carry out an uncompromising diagnosis, a 13-week cash-flow forecast and a plan with the hard decisions required, in coordination with your lawyers.

How do you know if your company needs a turnaround?

If you recognise two or more of these signs, it is time to act. The sooner you act, the more options remain.
  • Payments to suppliers, the tax authorities or social security are being deferred.
  • Sales are up, but cash is going down.
  • Margins have been falling for several quarters.
  • A key client or partner has left or is about to.
  • Management does not know how much cash it will have in four weeks’ time.
  • Major decisions keep being put off because no option looks good.

Where we have worked

We step into companies caught in a dynamic that threatened their survival: an uncompromising diagnosis, hard decisions and a plan to regain control, working with lawyers where needed.

What we don’t do

  • We are not insolvency administrators or court-appointed restructuring experts.
  • We don’t give legal advice: your lawyers do, and we work with them.
  • We don’t lend money or provide capital.
  • We don’t guarantee the company’s survival. We do tell you clearly what options you have and what risk each one carries.

How we work

Frequently asked questions about business turnaround

Is it too late if there are already overdue debts?

Not necessarily, but every week counts. With overdue debts, the first step is the cash-flow forecast and a conversation with your lawyer about the legal deadlines.

How is this different from insolvency proceedings?

Insolvency proceedings are a court process handled by lawyers. Our work is operational and starts earlier: it aims to put the company back in control so it never gets to that point, or gets there with the best options.

Will my team know?

Only what you decide. We work with management and sign a non-disclosure agreement if you wish.

Do you work with companies outside Spain?

Yes, on the operational and cash side. The legal side is handled by lawyers in the company’s own country.

How much does it cost?

A fixed price per phase, which we give you after the first conversation.

What you tell us stays between you and a partner.

In 30 minutes, we will review the situation and tell you what we would do first.
